As the Tamil festival of Aadi Perukku approaches, Tanishq has unveiled Agalyam — a new jewellery collection inspired by the sacred symbolism of traditional Tamil lamps.
Tanishq, the jewellery arm of the Tata Group, has launched its newest festive collection titled Agalyam, drawing inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s traditional lamps or Vilakku. Timed just ahead of the auspicious Tamil festival Aadi Perukku, the collection celebrates the enduring beauty of South Indian rituals and design heritage.
Rooted in the visual and spiritual symbolism of sacred lamps such as the Kamatchi Vilakku, Pavai Vilakku, Thooku Vilakku, and Thattu Vilakku, the collection offers a contemporary tribute to Tamil cultural motifs.
“Agalyam is a poetic interpretation of light and tradition,” said Arun Narayan, Vice President – Category, Marketing & Retail, Tanishq, Titan Company Ltd. “Each piece in the collection embodies the warmth and sanctity of the lamps that have been central to Tamil rituals for centuries.”
The pieces feature intricate craftsmanship — from Kasu (coin) embellishments and detailed Rava textures to finely carved Nakashi patterns and classic South Indian gemstone settings. Prices start from Rs.60,000 onwards, reflecting the artisanal complexity and cultural significance of each design.
The Agalyam collection will be available at Tanishq stores across India starting Sunday.
This launch reinforces Tanishq’s continued focus on regionally rooted designs that blend traditional aesthetics with contemporary sensibilities, especially during key festive seasons that hold deep cultural relevance for Indian consumers.
