Indian jeweller designers who won the design competitions – the ABN-Amro-Solitaire Design Awards and the India Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ) Vision 2008 All India Jewellery Design Competition, received honours at an event organised at the Grand Hyatt. %% The theme of Solitaire Design Awards was entitled Alluring Seasons—Summer, Spring, Monsoon and Winter, which received 17 entries in Formal wear and Daily Wear categories. ‘Love Curse—Dark Winter Night’ was the winning Formal Wear design by Krsna, and ‘Circle of Love (monsoon)’ by Ansaa was the first runner up. The Daily Wear winner was ‘For All Seasons’ by A'Star, followed by the runner-up design ‘Monsoon’ by M. Kantilal Exports. %% The IIGJ awards called for entries in three categories: Casual Wear, Bridal Wear and Party Wear. The Casual Wear winning design ‘Melting Sun’ was designed by Surbhi Gulati. ‘Vogue’ by IIGJ design instructor Arunprett Kaur Nagi was the winner in the Party Wear category. "Love" by Shweta Minawala was the winner in Bridal wear. %% The IIGJ designs centered around global warming with ‘Heat is Up’ by Parul Agarwal winning third place in the Casual Wear category, and ‘Global Warming’ by Molay Kumar being a finalist in the Party Wear category.
