The Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted a Jewellers Awareness Program at Maya Hotel Jalandhar, aimed at disseminating information about the mandatory HUID marks.
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office organized Jewellers Awareness Program at Maya Hotel Jalandhar. The program was attended by the President, General Secretary and over 30 jewellers of The Jalandhar Sarafa Association. All the information pertaining to mandatory HUID marks was disseminated.
Tilak Raj, Director & Head, BIS-JKBO informed that a jeweller having Gold artifacts with old hallmarking as existed prior to 1st July 2021, shall be permitted to sell such declared stock of old Gold jewellery up to the 30th June 2023, provided that the jeweller had already given a declaration pertaining to that stock as required by the Bureau under BIS Act, 2016.
Niraj Mishra, Assistant Director delivered a detailed presentation with respect to the process of hallmarking and how to obtain BIS Licence vide NSW window. Jewellers were also apprised of the use of BIS Care app and how to check the geniuses of HUID, ISI Mark through BIS Care App. The jewellers appreciated BIS initiatives and requested BIS organize more awareness programs in Sarafa Bazar itself.
