KCCI Ignites Kashmir’s Gem and Jewellery Export Ambitions

The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has taken a significant step toward boosting the Valley's gem and jewellery exports. In collaboration with industry bodies, KCCI organized an outreach program in Srinagar to educate local merchants on entering the global market, marking a pivotal moment for the region's jewellery sector

In a groundbreaking event, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) collaborated with key industry bodies to tap into the Valley's untapped potential in jewellery exports. The outreach program, held in Srinagar, aimed to educate local merchants on how to enter the lucrative international market.

Organized by KCCI in partnership with the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) North Region, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and ECGC, the event featured participation from industry leaders and local gold and diamond merchants. Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner of Industries and Commerce, served as the Chief Guest.

KCCI President Javed Ahmad Tenga described the event as a pivotal moment for Kashmir’s jewellery sector, emphasizing the need for international and national exhibitions in Srinagar. He also advocated for the establishment of a state-of-the-art gem testing lab and a skill development centre in the region.

Industry experts shared valuable insights during the program, with GJEPC North Chairman Ashok Seth stressing the importance of membership for merchants entering the export market. DGFT's Deputy Director A K Bhushan provided a detailed guide on starting a jewellery export business, while ECGC Manager Rahul explained policies to support exporters.

Commissioner Vikramjit Singh praised the efforts of KCCI and GJEPC, highlighting the hidden potential of Kashmir's gem and jewellery industry. He assured full government support to enhance the export potential of the region's artisans.

The event, seen as a significant step toward boosting Kashmir’s gem and jewellery exports, concluded with a vote of thanks by KCCI Secretary General Faiz Bakshi.
