UAE Ambassador Visits GJEPC Mumbai to Strengthen Indo-UAE Trade Ties

Dr. Abdulnasser Alshaali, the UAE Ambassador to India, visited the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) head office and the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) in Mumbai to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral trade. He was welcomed by key industry leaders, including Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman, GJEPC; Anoop Mehta, President, BDB; Milan Chokshi, Convener – PMBD, GJEPC; and Mehul Shah, Vice President, BDB.

The Ambassador was accompanied by a high-level delegation, which included Fahad Albashr, Head of the Economic Affairs Section; Ahmed Aljneibi, Senior Economic Affairs Specialist; Humaid Aldhabahi, Head of the Department of Consular and Citizen Affairs; and other officials from the UAE Embassy and the UAE-India CEPA Council.

Discussions revolved around leveraging the Indo-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to enhance the gems and jewellery trade.

Key areas of focus included easing long-term and multiple entry visas, investment in the India Jewellery Park, increasing trade volumes, and fostering collaboration in the diamond and jewellery sectors.

This strategic meeting underscores the commitment of both nations to leverage CEPA to drive growth and innovation in the gems and jewellery sector, further solidifying the UAE and India’s longstanding trade relationship.
